Jason Gaidola reporting for CHCH News attended the announcement by Niagara College’s Research and Innovation (R&I) department on Nov. 12 in which Marc Nantel, vice-president, Research, Innovation and Strategic Initiatives, and President Dan Patterson, shared that NC ranked No. 1 in Top 50 Research Colleges report. Staff and faculty from R&I were there to celebrate the big news.
NC is described in the segment as “one of the leading schools in food and beverage.” Gaidola interviews Nantel and Patterson to discuss the breadth of research their funding – $11 million in total – will support.
Gaidola visits the Food Quality Lab to discuss the College’s prospective plans to explore supporting industry research into cannabis edibles; infused food and beverage items – once they have approval from Health Canada.
Patterson says that NC are well-prepared for this kind of research due to working relationships with industry and faculty expertise. Nantel shares that several cannabis companies have already approached NC to explore research opportunities.
