A message from Sean Kennedy, senior vice president, International:
I am excited to announce the launch of the College’s new global engagement process, connecting NC faculty and staff to international education experiences.
For over 20 years, Niagara College has been participating in international development, capacity-building, and education reform projects around the world. As we continue to expand our presence in the international marketplace, I am pleased to introduce our engagement process consisting of a college practice and an online form where Niagara College employees can register to express their interest in being part of a global project.
In support of the College’s strategic vision of becoming Canada’s global college and to continue NC’s incredible success on the international stage, I invite you to learn more about our work and how they might become involved. Niagara College is globally engaged through campuses, partnerships, field studies and capacity building projects around the world, including:
- In Malawi, where we are partnering with UNESCO, the national government and Skills and Technology Educational Program (STEP) to decentralize the college sector in Malawi;
- In Vietnam, where we have developed a leadership academy for college presidents and built applied research capability in food technology and innovation;
- In St Lucia, where we are working with the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development to mainstream gender equality into the government’s practices and long-term planning;
- In Saudi Arabia, where we operate female and male campuses with over 3,000 students, support national education reform through a capacity building project at the Madinah College of Technology for Women, and deliver customized training for health professionals;
- In the Americas (Chile, Mexico and Colombia), where we are partnered with several Canadian colleges to build capacity among staff and deliver consulting services in sustainability, productivity and innovation; and
- In the Netherlands, Dominican Republic, Peru, Germany, England, and Costa Rica, where we have International Field Studies scheduled for students to travel on short-term learning opportunities over the academic term break weeks.
Each global initiative provides immersive professional growth opportunities for Niagara College employees. I invite you to consider participating in one of our exciting and dynamic international development projects or campus operations.
