NC earned media coverage in the Niagara Dailies for a new three-wheel motorcycle course offered through Part-Time Studies using BRP’s Can-Am Ryker and Spyder bikes. The 10-hour course for a modified M2(M) licence is exclusive to the college and the only one in the Hamilton-Niagara region. Dave Johnson’s story features photos from the Saturday, September 7 class at NC’s Welland Campus and features quotes from Bob Sagon-King, the college motorcycle training program’s supervising chief instructor, and student Bev Carpenter.
Johnson highlights the partnership between Bombardier Recreational Products and the support of local partner Rev’s Full Throttle in Welland who loaned the bikes to the College.
Carpenter said she bought a Can-Am Spyder this summer and has been waiting to take the course. Carpenter explains that she prefers to three-wheel motorcycle for its stability, easy ride, and straight-forward controls including automatic and semi-automatic transmission options.
The course teaches the basics to build up rider confidence before instructors oversee students driving forward and then backing up, travelling down a straight line and making stops, higher speed driving, turns, curves, more-involved braking and weaving between cones.
The course is being offered until the end of October and will start back up again in the Spring of 2020.
