Niagara College is proud to support the Celebration of Nations: A Gathering of Indigenous Arts, Culture and Tradition in St. Catharines, September 6-8.
NC staff, faculty and students are invited to don their NC blue and take part in the free Procession of Nations ceremony on Saturday, September 7 at 10 a.m. Beginning on St. Paul Street, the route of an ancient and enduring Indigenous trail, the special ceremony will honour Indigenous Nations.
Free tickets to the Celebration of Nations events are available for students.
Representatives from the College, including President Dan Patterson, Student Services director Lianne Gagnon and staff from Indigenous Education, will be among those representing NC. Celebration of Nations will be jam-packed with programming that celebrates the creativity, diversity and resilience of Indigenous Peoples. NC is sponsoring a free drum teachings workshop led by Nicole Joy Fraser on Sunday, September 8 at 11 a.m.
Held on the weekend of September 7 and 8 in downtown St. Catharines, the Celebration of Nations is one way the College strives to build a cultural inclusive learning environment and provide opportunities for all students, not only our First Nations, Metis, and Inuit students, to engage with and honour our Indigenous Nations.
