On June 18, The Toronto Star reported on the connection between Niagara College and the new release from Wayne Gretzky Estates.
No. 99 Rye Lager is the inaugural beer from Gretzky’s, crafted by master distiller and brewer Joshua Beach. Beach turned to the NC Teaching Brewery to test early trials of the beer, with the help of NC’s Jon Downing, Steve Gill, and students in the Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program.
“Having all that skilled, professional labour was invaluable,” said Beach about students in the Brewmaster program.
This project is an example of the hands-on, industry experience students get as part of an NC education.
