Registrar Adam Dusome has been awarded CRALO's prestigious Golden Quill award.

Niagara College registrar Adam Dusome has been honoured for his outstanding contributions to the Ontario college system.

The Committee of Registrars, Admissions and Liaison Officers of the Ontario College System (CRALO) presented Dusome with the highest award that it can bestow: the Golden Quill. The prestigious award is based upon an individual’s prolonged, continuous and outstanding contributions to the college system, which are above and beyond the recipient’s day-to-day accountabilities.

“Adam has been a leader within the CRALO group for many years. He can always be counted on to drive system-wide solutions with student success at the forefront,” said CRALO chair Don Duclos. “Personally, Adam has helped me successfully transition back into the registrar group, after an absence, and always takes the time to help.”

Prior to taking on his role as registrar at NC in January 2013, Dusome worked at Cambrian College (2001 to 2013), where he held positions as registrar, associate registrar, admissions manager and admissions officer.

Duclos said that Dusome has been in the CRALO system for many years, since his position at Cambrian College, and that he has been an active member of the group, offering valuable feedback and trying to find ways to improve practices for students. He noted that, more recently, Dusome joined the CRALO executive and made it up the ranks until his last role as past-chair. Throughout his years, Dusome has co-hosted a CRALO AGM in Sudbury and the 2015 CRALO AGM in Niagara Falls.

“There are few things more humbling or rewarding than being recognized by your peers for your contributions,” said Dusome. “I am very honoured to be selected for this award by my colleagues, including several who have been mentors to me over the years.”

Dusome noted that the CRALO is one of the most collaborative reporting groups in the college system in terms of sharing best practices to help all students, and it provides a strong professional network for members at each institution they can rely on when needed.

‘It has been a privilege to participate on sub-committees, working groups, and be part of the CRALO executive team/provincial chair,” said Dusome. “I look forward to contributing to such a great group in future.”

CRALO is a provincial body dedicated to the development of guidelines and procedures common to all Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology relating to Admissions, Liaison, Recruitment, Registration, and Student Records. Visit cralo.ca/.
