Message from Mary Wilson, director, Centre of Academic Excellence:

I am very pleased to welcome Whitney Ross to the Educational Development Unit of the Centre for Academic Excellence at Niagara College.  Whitney accepted the position of Educational Developer, Inclusivity and joined us in her new role on December 3, 2018.

Whitney comes to Niagara College from the MacPherson Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Excellence in Teaching and Learning at McMaster University, where she worked as an Educational Developer with a focus on equity and inclusion, accessibility, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.  She also served as co-chair of the Indigenous Education Working Group at the MacPherson Institute and collaborated with an interdisciplinary team of researchers to explore and develop resources for inclusive teaching in Engineering.

At Niagara College, Whitney will be building a new portfolio in the Centre for Academic Excellence with a focus on inclusive and culturally responsive learning and curriculum design.  Whitney will contribute to supporting the college community in responding to the needs of our diverse student population, and helping to advise senior leadership, administrators, faculty and staff on inclusive and culturally responsive education.  She will be working collaboratively with faculty to highlight and share some of the great practices already underway across the college, and to promote inclusive and culturally-responsive approaches to instruction.

Please join me in welcoming Whitney ([email protected]) to the college community!
