2018 NC Cares in a United Way campaign to launch on Niagara Day
The spirit of giving will be in full force this Niagara Day.
As College staff and faculty gather to mark the kickoff to the academic year on August 29 at the Welland Campus, the event will also mark the launch of the 2018 NC Cares in United Way Campaign.
A team of volunteers will be on site at the event to collect donations for the College’s annual campaign, which supports those in need in the Niagara region.
“We are proud of our College’s strong tradition of supporting our Niagara community and are looking forward to continuing our fundraising efforts this year,” said Greg Medulun, VP External Relations, who is co-chairing the College’s 2018 fundraising campaign with Carolyn Triemstra, dean of Community and Health Studies.
“Last year, our College campaign raised more than $23,000 on Niagara Day alone, which was our most successful Niagara Day campaign launch in College history, and we are hoping for another strong start for 2018.”
Donate on Niagara Day for a chance to win prizes
Those who donate $25 or more to the NC Cares in a United Way Campaign on Niagara Day will be entered into a raffle, for a chance to win a prize, including tickets to the CFWI’s popular Caps, Corks and Forks event, a gift card to Benchmark restaurant, and more.
Donations must be made on Niagara Day to be eligible for this special raffle. Winners will be announced on September 5.
Volunteers will be on site at Niagara Day to collect donations. There will be a number of ways to donate including online, cash or credit cards. Information about the United Way will also be on display at the event.
To donate online on Niagara Day or throughout the campaign period, which runs from August 29 to December, visit the United Way app on Blackboard or click the following link ess.niagaracollege.ca/Forms/RFUnitedWay/index.asp.
About NC’s annual United Way Campaign
Niagara College’s annual fundraising campaign for the United Way supports essential programs and services that help improve the lives of those in need right here in the region – and there are many. In fact, one in five Niagara residents use a program or service that is funded by the United Way.
Since 1991, Niagara College has raised almost $750,000 for the United Way in our region. Last year, NC continued its legacy of giving by raising more than $34,340. As a result, The College was also presented with an award for being among the United Way’s Top 10 Workplace Campaigns for 2017.
Last year, amalgamation plans were announced for that would bring the United Way of South Niagara, the United Way St. Catharines, and the United Way of Niagara Falls and Greater Fort Erie (UWNFGFE), together for a single United Way in Niagara. For information visit www.unitedwayniagara.org/
