Staff and faculty: get ready to kick-start the new academic year on Wednesday, August 29 at Niagara Day 2018! The event will be held at Welland Campus (gymnasium) and doors will open at 10:30 a.m. for light refreshments and networking, with the program beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch from Benchmark will follow in the Learning Commons.
The event will include the College’s highly anticipated annual employee recognition award ceremonies, where recipients of this year’s Awards of Excellence, Service Awards, the Niagara Champions Award, and College Educator Development program certificates will be announced. It will also feature presentations from NC students who will share their personal ‘NC stories’ with staff and faculty.
Niagara Day will mark the launch of our 2018 United Way Campaign, co-chaired by Greg Medulun (VP of External Relations) and Carolyn Triemstra (dean of Community and Health Studies). Donors who contribute to the campaign at Niagara Day will be entered in a raffle to win some great prizes! The United Way booth with be located at the entrance to the Athletic Centre, so please stop and take the time to fill out a pledge form. Every donation is one step closer to strengthening our community and supporting those in need.
In our efforts to reach the College’s sustainability goals, we are pleased to share that all food service products at this event will be compostable. Please ensure you are discarding any of these items into our labelled organics bins only – we will have plenty available in both the gym and Learning Commons. Employees are also encouraged to bring their refillable beverage containers for coffee and water. Those travelling from the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus are encouraged carpooling to and from the Welland Campus for the event.
Also happening at the event:
- SAC will be collecting pocket change for donations to their initiative, Loonies and Toonies for Nourishing Minds;
- Employee parking passes will be available for pick-up with NC Parking. Please note you must have registered and paid for the permit prior to pick-up and will need to present photo ID to claim your parking pass;
- An opportunity to explore what’s new on campus by browsing displays set up by groups including the NC Toastmasters, Sustainability, and Research & Innovation.
