Message from Dan Patterson: It’s time to spring into action for our Open House

Saturday, March 24 will be when we welcome prospective students, families and the community to our Spring Open House. It is our opportunity to open up our campuses to share the Niagara College story, and demonstrate the special qualities that set Niagara College apart: our commitment to providing an unparalleled learning experience, and our unwavering dedication to enriching lives and fulfilling dreams.

This is what we call, ‘the NC difference,’ and it not only leaves a lasting impression on our graduates, but is why students choose to enroll at our College.

When students speak about why they chose NC, I often hear that as soon as they visited our College’s Open House and had an opportunity to meet with our faculty, staff and students face to face, they knew it was the right choice for them. They will recount a conversation they had with a specific friendly staff or faculty member while touring our beautiful campuses that enlightened them to what an applied education at NC has to offer, and how they were  inspired to begin their own ‘NC story.’  This doesn’t only apply to young people; numerous adults have often expressed to me that they wish they were students again, after touring our campuses.

Now, our College faces a critical time for recruitment as we prepare to welcome thousands of prospective students and their families to our Spring Open House on March 24. While our Open House events are always crucial to our College’s recruitment efforts, the importance of this year’s Spring Open House cannot be overstated. For many, this will be their first – and possibly only – opportunity to visit our College and experience what NC has to offer before making their final decision on a postsecondary institution.

I hope you can participate in this year’s event. This is the time to really demonstrate ‘the NC difference’ and showcase our vision of providing a learning experience for our students that is unmatched – with the best programs, services and facilities possible.

Many have already come forward with creative plans for interactive displays that will surely engage our open house visitors and I thank you for your efforts.

In addition to the outstanding efforts of our Recruitment and Marketing teams, we should all be our College’s greatest promoters. I encourage the entire College community to help spread the word about our Spring Open House by sharing our Spring Open House event poster with their friends, family and social networks.

The NC community is a true testament to all our College has to offer. As prospective students are deciding on their futures, know that your participation will make all the difference.

The Spring Open House will be held on Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
