College to host Spring Open House Saturday, March 25


Prospective students and the general public will have an opportunity to experience NC on March 25 as the College hosts its Spring Open House.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake Campuses.

Future students and the community will have the opportunity to tour the College’s unique campuses, residences and learning enterprises; explore a variety of student displays and demonstrations; attend program information sessions, as well as parent information sessions, financial aid info sessions, and a Student Services Fair; meet faculty and current students; and participate in a variety of activities.

College president Dan Patterson will be on site to give prospective students a warm welcome as part of this year’s special feature: Meet the President Hour. It will take place at the Welland Campus (from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Learning Commons), and at the NOTL Campus (12:30 to 1:30 p.m., cafeteria entrance).

Prospective students attending the Spring Open House will be entered to win a $3,000 award applicable to their 2017-2018 tuition.

A variety of activities taking place at the open house will also be of  interest the general public. Both campuses will feature live music. Tours and tastings will be available at the NC Teaching Winery and Teaching Brewery, (Winery tours depart at 10 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. from the winery; Brewery tours depart 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. from the Brewery).

In the spirit of the season, Visitors can pick up blooms from the NC Greenhouse at a plant sale, taking place at both the Welland and NOTL campuses. Hive and products created for the College’s new Commercial Beekeeping program will also be on display, as well as an aquaponics exhibit.

Culinary selections from chefs at Benchmark restaurant will be available, including complimentary shortbread and assorted desserts commemorating the college’s 50th anniversary. Benchmark Bread Sales will take place at both campuses, featuring Sundried Tomato, Everything Vienna, Sourdough and Foccacia ($4 per loaf).

Those interested in purchasing goods from the Campus Store may take advantage of a 20% discount during the Open House.

Advance registration is not required and free parking will be available for visitors to the Spring Open House.
