Students will get a taste of a bright new cafeteria and student commons at the NOTL campus next week.
After six months of construction, the lower-level space at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus will close for final touches and furniture installation at 4 pm on Friday, Nov. 11 and re-open at 8 am Monday.
The $2.6 million project is the first phase of a three-phase renovation this phase that included renovations to the info centre, health and wellness centre and enrolment and registration services. The cafeteria and student commons doubles the space of the former cafeteria, and creates a welcoming, social and collaborative environment featuring new furniture, connectivity and a nine-metre integrated video wall that will be used for streaming events, presentations and more.
From Nov. 14-18, the College, Chartwells and the Niagara College Student Administrative Council will partner to offer food specials, draws and prize giveaways, including food special and samples on Monday and Tuesday; a prize wheel giveaway with purchases on Wednesday; free hot chocolate on Thursday and $1 specialty milkshakes and prizes on Friday. Daily draws for gift baskets will also take place.
The cafeteria and student commons project is part of a $50 million campus redevelopment project designed to modernize learning environments and enhance students’ experience.
