Linda Roote is now the associate dean, School of Media Studies, after serving as interim associate dean since August 2014.
A message from Misheck Mwaba, dean of Media, Trades and Technology:
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Linda Roote as associate dean – School of Media Studies effective April 11.
Linda has been serving as interim associate dean since August 2014. During this period she has provided oversight to significant projects that include major program modifications to Broadcasting – Radio, Television and Film (BRTF) and Graphic Design programs; planning and preparing for the soon to be launched joint NC/Brock Game program; and creating a distinctive brand for the School of Media programs. Under her leadership, the School of Media has seen significant growth. Linda is active in the community and presently serves on the Advisory Committee of iHub.
Linda joined Niagara College in 1999 as a professor in the Interactive Multimedia program. As a professor Linda played a key role in the development of the New Media Web Design program and became coordinator when the program was launched in 2006. During her time at Niagara College, she has participated in various key initiatives, in and outside the College, including the Blackboard roll out, merging of the web and programming curriculum and the establishment of nGen. Prior to joining Niagara College Linda held various positions in industry, as a web developer at Tri-Media Marketing, work readiness manager at Hutton House, and human resources and operations manager at The Bay.
Linda has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Queen’s University and a graduate certificate in Interactive Multimedia from Niagara College.
Linda continues to place great emphasis on student success and I am confident that her stint as interim associate dean has positioned her well to lead the School of Media Studies to the next level.
Please join me in congratulating Linda on her appointment.
