The Niagara College Student Administrative Council in partnership with the College Student Alliance are proud to bring the Yellow Umbrella Project back to the halls of Niagara College.
Now in its third year, the Yellow Umbrella Project campaign will continue to bring attention to mental health in postsecondary institutions across Ontario. Niagara College and the NCSAC have been at the forefront of institutions to embrace the campaign.
To commence the week-long campaign, the NCSAC unveil The Friendship Bench in the Niagara-on-the-Lake campus courtyard on Monday, Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m.
“Mental health advocacy continues to be a priority for NCSAC and we are extremely proud to have a yellow Friendship Bench on our campus. The Friendship Bench reminds our students to stop and talk about an issue that impacts many students in post-secondary.” said NCSAC president, Shane Malcolm. “We’re encouraging Niagara College staff and students to get involved, participate and show their support of this wonderful on-campus campaign by joining us for the Friendship Bench unveiling.”
There are a number of other ways that the NCSAC is asking the staff and students of Niagara College to participate.
On Wednesday, Oct. 7 Niagara College staff and students are encouraged participate in the Day of Yellow by wearing yellow. Departments on campus are also encouraged to decorate their entrance doors with yellow.
The Yellow Umbrella Project will take place from Monday, Oct. 5 until Friday, Oct. 9 at both the Niagara-on-the-Lake and Welland campuses.
