Niagara College welcomed Niagara Regional chair Gary Burroughs and Niagara Region CAO Harry Schlange to the Welland Campus on Jan. 30.
Burroughs and Schlange, who were accompanied by executive officer to the regional chair Matt Robinson, met with college president Dan Patterson and associate vice-president of Research and Innovation Marc Nantel to learn about the work NC faculty and students are doing to assist local manufacturers.
They visited Niagara Research offices in the Pavillion building where they received an overview of Niagara Research’s work with manufacturers on research and development projects and to improve production efficiencies. Research project manager Advanced Manufacturing Gordon Koslowski, Research project manager Business and Commercialization Solutions Neil Wilkinson, and acting senior manager Krystle Grimaldi provided a report on local companies who have been assisted by Niagara Research through funding provided by the Niagara Region.
They also toured the Rankin Technology Centre where faculty member Costa Aza and research assistant Ben Laurence demonstrated equipment in the research labs and discussed several research projects including work with PaperNuts, Durham Foods and KwikMix.
