It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment, after an extensive search process, of Craig Youdale as the Dean, Canadian Food and Wine Institute effective February 3, 2014.
The Canadian Food and Wine Institute is one of the key strategic elements for Niagara College, increasing the importance of this selection process. The Board of Governors, the Program Advisory Committee, industry leaders and internal staff were consulted on the leadership that would be required to move the Institute and the College forward. This included a strong community network, exceptional industry networks and academic and industry experience in the areas of programming offered through CFWI.
The College retained a consultant to undertake outreach to all major schools in Canada and industry to uncover interested and qualified candidates. A wide range of candidates were developed, with a broad spectrum of backgrounds and interests. The process highlighted the respect with which CFWI is held, as many industry and academics demonstrated a keen interest in this opportunity.
After a broad search, the Selection Committee was unanimous in recommending Craig to the President for consideration. I want to thank the Selection Committee for their input, especially Chef Professor Peter Blakeman and Chef Professor Mark Picone, for their efforts. Their commitment and understanding of the important role this position plays in the College was critical to the evaluation of candidates.
Please join me in congratulating Craig.
