On Feb. 11, Big Brothers Big Sisters St. Catharines – Thorold and District (BBBS) will host Niagara College Bowls, an event with a Tight ‘N’ Bright theme in association with the Niagara College Student Administration Council (SAC).
Niagara College Bowls is BBBS’ newest student-run fundraiser that supports the Big Brother, Big Sister and In-School Mentoring programs at the agency. The Niagara College community is invited to bowl at the Parkway Lanes in St. Catharines from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and raise a minimum of $40 in pledges online to help the agency reach its fundraising goal of $5,000.
Niagara College Bowls is a perfect opportunity for Niagara College students and affiliates to give back to their community, all while having fun in their best Tight ‘N’ Bright attire. Staff and students can sign up their team of four to six people from the event website (niagaracollegebowls.kintera.org) and do all of their fundraising online.
“We encourage everyone to challenge themselves and raise as much money as they can,” said Rachel Mills, BBBS public relations and Communications Officer. “If you can’t come out to the event, make sure to sponsor your friends.”
All the money raised at Niagara College Bowls goes towards the agency’s larger Tim Hortons Bowl for Kids Sake which is the agency’s largest fundraiser of the year. In order to maintain and grow the level of mentorship at the agency, a grand total of $150,000 must be raised.
Students can look forward to seeing the Niagara College mascot Knightro at Niagara College Bowls and there will be lots of opportunities for photographs.
“We are all very excited to get dressed up in our Tight ‘N’ Bright clothes and bowl for such a good cause,” said Adam Maiolo, marketing manager for Niagara College SAC. “This is the first ever Niagara College Bowls and we are very excited to be associated with an agency that is doing such good work with children in our community.”
Students who wish to take advantage of free transportation heading from the Glendale Campus to the Parkway Lanes can email Shauna Reid, BBBS Special Events Fundraiser, at [email protected].
