Annually the Canadian Hospitality Foundation rewards the best and the brightest students across Canada whose goal is to enter the foodservice, lodging and hospitality industry. These scholarships encourage and ensure top quality students are recognized by the industry and support their dream and career aspirations.
Two top students at Niagara College were recognized at this prestigious national event; Emily Cornwell, Event Management Class of 2013, was presented with the Metro Toronto Convention Centre Award for Special Events; and Amelia Laplante, Culinary Management, was given the Smart Serve Ontario College Entrance award.
“I am so proud to have won the Metro Toronto Convention Centre Event Management Award. Having won this award and being able to attend the awards gala were an incredible opportunity,” said Cornwell. “If you combine hard work with a real passion for what you do, people will take notice.”
The Canadian Hospitality Foundation (CHF) offers over $200,000 worth of scholarships annually for students across Canada wishing to pursue a career in the hospitality, foodservice and tourism industry. The CHF serves as a vehicle for foodservice, lodging and hospitality corporations to invest in the future of their own industry through their support of the CHF’s scholarship program to ensure that the best and brightest join the industry.

The Event Management program at Niagara College teaches students how to plan, promote and run special events for the public, corporate and non-profit sectors. .At the core of the Event Management program is how events can stimulate economies, develop community awareness, increase public involvement, improve quality of life, raise funds and market products.
Culinary Management in the Canadian Food and Wine Institute is located on Niagara College’s Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus, is the College’s centre for food wine and beer education. It is home to Benchmark, the College’s teaching restaurant, as well as the Teaching Winery and Teaching Brewery.
