After 32 years of dedicated service, Niagara College counsellor, Jocelyne Briggs has announced her retirement.
Jocelyne began her career with the Département des Services en Langue Française in 1981, where she was responsible for the development of French language continuing education courses offered throughout the Niagara Peninsula. She recruited students throughout the province for the bilingual programs Niagara College was offering at that time and taught in the same bilingual programs.
Jocelyne then provided employment counselling at Niagara College for number of years. In 1997, she joined the Student Services division where she has continued to deliver professional counselling services, assisting students with their academic, career and personal concerns.
In 2005, Jocelyne earned her post-graduate certification in Interactive Multimedia which has proven to be a powerful tool in the development of student outreach and innovation projects, including the “Their Voices, Our Ears” – a multimedia research project aimed at supporting student retention. Jocelyne played a lead role in the development of this film that brought the challenges and successes of NC students to life.
In addition to these accomplishments during her tenure in Student Services, Jocelyne has also provided a valuable link for students, faculty and staff within the Student Success Centre and the International student department.
Jocelyne retires at the end of June 2013. Please join Jocelyne’s colleagues at Niagara College in extending best wishes for the years to come.
