Niagara College Manager of Athletics & Recreation Matthew Davies commented, “the SIRC-CCAA Academic All-Canadian Award should be considered one of the highest honours our student-athletes can strive for. We are extremely proud of our six recipients for their outstanding performance in the classroom and their elite athletic achievements. They are the epitome of what a Niagara College Knight represents.”
Defender Brittany Johnston of the Niagara College Women’s Soccer team received the award for the second consecutive season. The Ridgeway, Ontario native is currently in her second year studying Law and Security.
The selection of Paramedic student Shayne Petrusma, marks the first time in Niagara College history that a student-athlete has been selected as both a CCAA All-Canadian and a SIRC-CCAA Academic All-Canadian in the same season.
