Beginning next week, you may receive a text message from NC Alerts – Niagara College’s urgent notification and Blackboard messaging services.
These communication services allow subscribers to receive urgent emergency messages (NC Alert) and important course-related messages (NC Blackboard) via text, voice and email. These are opt-in services available to all Niagara College students and staff. For information on how to subscribe, visit the NC Alerts web page.
If you receive a message next week, it means you are a new subscriber, or you subscribed to the service earlier but did not confirm your subscription when asked to do so via reply text. When you receive confirmation texts from “NCALERT” or “NCBB”, you must reply “Y NCALERT” or “Y NCBB” to complete the confirmation process. Also, subscribers to NC Alert and/or NC Blackboard will begin to receive monthly text messages. By law, we are required to send a message every month to remind you that you are subscribed to this service, and how you can unsubscribe. The following messages will be sent to all subscribers on the fourth Sunday of every month:

Some subscribers to Niagara College’s NC Alert urgent notification system and NC Blackboard message system have experienced issues recently with their subscription to these services, including a lack of confirmation of the service/no service, or repeated confirmation texts. Niagara College has worked with its supplier, Blackboard Connect, to address these technical issues. A full explanation of the service, including the confirmation and reminder messages that subscribers receive, is available online.
