Spotlight On: Explore the Power of Virtual Reality in Teaching and Learning
June 5, 2025 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Join us for an engaging in-person session that highlights the innovative ways virtual reality (VR) is being used across campus to enhance learning, foster empathy, and create immersive educational experiences.
This interactive workshop will showcase a range of VR projects led by faculty from diverse disciplines, demonstrating how immersive technology is being integrated into teaching, professional development, and student engagement. From scenario-based learning to creative storytelling and beyond, discover how VR is opening new pathways for exploration and understanding in post-secondary education.
Participants will also have the opportunity to experience several VR simulations that invite deeper reflection on real-world challenges within higher education environments. These simulations prompt participants to consider multiple perspectives and engage with complex scenarios in a safe, supportive space.
Through this session, you will:
- Discover innovative ways faculty are incorporating VR into their practice
- Experience immersive scenarios that support critical thinking and empathy
- Learn how VR can enrich student learning across a variety of fields
- Explore opportunities to collaborate or bring VR into your own teaching or work
- Gather inspiration for creating more experiential learning opportunities, even beyond VR
- Brainstorm new ways to make course content more engaging and inclusive for students with diverse learning needs and preferences
- Whether you’re curious about VR or already using it, this session offers inspiration, practical examples, and a space for discussion on where immersive tech (and experiential learning more broadly) can take us next. To make the best use of our time together, we invite attendees to submit questions in advance. These submissions will help structure the panel discussion and ensure we address key interests and challenges across the institution.
Registration is required, here. All members of the campus community, including faculty, staff, and administrators, are encouraged to attend.
Please note spaces for this session are limited to 20.
