Employee VR Accessibility Session

March 24 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FreeStep into an immersive perspective-taking experience using Oculus Quest II VR headsets with handheld controls—or access the PC version for convenience.
Participants will engage with characters from diverse backgrounds and scenarios set on post-secondary campuses, exploring barriers such as physical, architectural, and attitudinal challenges. Through a series of interactive prompts, learners will make choices that foster a deeper understanding of ableism.
These innovative VR simulations were developed and tested by Niagara College professors Theresa Anzovino and Jamie Oresar, Adaptive Technology Specialist Jim McEwen, and Dr. Maureen Connolly of Brock University, Director of the Brock-Niagara Centre of Excellence in Inclusive and Adaptive Physical Activity (CAPA). This project aims to provide participants with insight into the lives of individuals with disabilities, raise awareness about ableist behaviours, and teach strategies to address and challenge ableism effectively.
