Waiting Lists and Denials

Were you placed on a waiting list or denied admission to your program of choice? We’re here to help. Explore your options below.

Why was I placed on a waiting list?

We set up a waiting list when there are more eligible applicants than space in a program. You’ll stay on the waiting list until the 5th day of classes. (Note: your position on the list doesn’t carry over to future terms.)

Confirming an offer of admission to another program will not affect your position on a waiting list.

Where am I on the list?

Your position on the list is based on your evaluation score compared to other applicants. If you applied after the application date, it will be based on your application date. Admissions will notify you of your waitlist position by mail within 3 weeks of being placed on the waiting list.

Will I be contacted if space opens up?

If space becomes available in your program, our Admissions Office will contact you by email. To make sure we can reach you, please ensure the contact information you provided as part of your Ontario Colleges application is up to date.

Why was I denied admission?

You may have been denied admission because:

  • Admission requirements were not met,
  • Proof of admission requirements were not received by the due date, or
  • The program and waiting list are full.

Applicants can view detailed information about which requirements the Admissions Office has received, and what is still outstanding, by logging in to MyNC. Once logged in, click on “Evaluation Status” under the “Application and Resources” section.

Applicants wishing to make a formal appeal can follow the Appeal of Admissions Decisions procedure: niagaracollege.ca/admissionsappeal.

What can I do now?

We know that a denial of admission isn’t something that anyone wants to receive. Depending on the reason for the denial, there may be different ways to improve your chances of receiving an offer of acceptance, or you might consider exploring different options and pathways with similar career opportunities.
