Niagara College offers several program options for students who have been inadvertently impacted by recent operational pauses or changes at private career colleges in Ontario.

We know that there are many career-college students who were midway through their studies or close to completing their program but now, through no fault of their own, have had their academic journey interrupted, and we have many options available for the upcoming Winter term.

Niagara College offers January 2027 intakes for eligible students in several programs that are offered at private colleges such as Personal Support Worker, Pharmacy Technician, Community Pharmacy Assistant, Hairstyling, Early Childhood Education, Culinary Skills (Chef Training), as well as several other programs with winter intakes in Technology, Trades, Business, Environment, and Justice.

Financial support available

Financial support is also available in support of bursaries/scholarships for most students, including dedicated awards for eligible career college students pursuing program completion.

We can also provide assistance to students transitioning from the private career college system with many student services including admissions support, academic upgrading, financial aid advising, as well as academic advising and accessibility supports. In addition, we will provide Prior Learning Assessment Recognition (PLAR) at no cost for students transferring from a private college, which may also open opportunities for advanced standing in some program areas.
