guard.me, a company that provides emergency health insurance services to Niagara College’s international students and students and employees who travel as part of their study or work, has advised the College that the company’s data systems were the target of a cybersecurity incident through which an unauthorized third-party accessed client information. guard.me has advised us that clients affected by the incident include current and former Niagara College students and employees who hold or have held policies with guard.me. The company also advises that there is currently no evidence that any client information has been misused. guard.me has also notified the offices of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

guard.me has initiated efforts to contact all customers affected by this incident directly. The privacy of students and employees is of utmost importance to Niagara College, and wherever possible we will assist guard.me in its efforts to reach all affected NC customers, while working with the company to ensure any impacted members of the college community receive the appropriate information and support.
