Early on the morning of Sept. 22, police and Niagara College security responded to an incident at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus residence building in which a gun was allegedly pointed.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident. Niagara Regional Police have since apprehended the suspect, and steps have been taken to address the ongoing safety of students and staff. The College has increased its security presence, and visits to the Residence building have been restricted.
On-site counselling was provided for students in the NOTL residence following the incident, and College staff will continue to provide support to any affected students through Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services.
Niagara College officials are assisting police in their investigation. Updates will be provided as further information becomes available. The NRPS have also posted a media release on their website.
