Niagara College does not want prospective students to just believe that it offers a college experience like no other – it encourages them to visit and experience it for themselves!

On Saturday, November 17, the College will swing open its doors to the public for its Fall Open House, to take place at both its Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake campuses between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Open House offers the public a rare inside look at the College’s programs, facilities and services, and provides prospective students with information and opportunities to speak to faculty, staff and students to help guide their journey to postsecondary education.

“The Fall Open House is a wonderful opportunity to meet students, faculty and staff; tour the remarkable facilities and services we have on campus; and experience what Niagara College is all about,” said NC president Dan Patterson. “There’s no better time than the Open House to explore your future at Niagara College.”

Open House visitors can register for a chance to win a $2,000 credit towards their tuition in September 2019, January 2020 or May 2020.

The central hub for the event  will be the ‘Academic Marketplace’ where visitors can explore the variety of program offerings – for both full- and part-time studies – available at each campus, speak to program faculty and students, and depart for lab tours specific to their program areas of interest where they can witness experiential learning in action.

Visitors can get a sneak peek at NC’s unique environments and visit classrooms and learning enterprises such as the Teaching Salon, Dental Clinic, simulation and technology labs at the Welland Campus; or the Teaching Winery, Teaching Brewery, greenhouse, and culinary and research labs at the NOTL Campus. It will also be an opportunity to view some of the newest areas on campus from NC’s $65-million campus redevelopment project, such as the recently unveiled Teaching Distillery and athletic facilities at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus, or the new cafeteria / Student Commons in Welland.

Guests can roam freely or attend guided campus tours departing every half hour, led by current students. On-campus residences will be open for drop-in tours throughout the day.

The College is hosting free information sessions during the Open House including:

  • Making the Transition – A Parent’s Guide to College, which will discuss how new or seasoned college parents can support their child through their journey to college life, and will introduce them to services, as well as academic, financial, health and wellness supports available to students;
  • Funding your Post Secondary Journey which will discuss how students can access financial resources and learn more about the Ontario Student Assistance Program, bursaries and scholarships, and fee deadlines and payment options; and
  • The College Co-op Experience which will discuss work experiences and resources available through Career Services, for those interested in learning more about the College’s co-op programs.

Guests can also browse through the Student Services Fair at each campus to learn about available supports the College offers. Financial Aid and Enrolment Services staff will also be on site and ready to facilitate student applications.

While visitors are welcome to attend both campus open houses, those who are unsure of where their programs of interest are located are encouraged to visit the College website here: https://www.niagaracollege.ca/openhouse/fall/academicdisplays/
