Niagara College continues its efforts to improve on-campus parking for our college community.
While our campuses typically experience a high volume of vehicles during the first few weeks of fall term – which can cause brief delays or a shortage of parking spots, particularly during peak times – we are currently experiencing a greater demand for parking spaces than anticipated. This is largely due to the record number of students who have enrolled at our College this September.
We understand the impact this has had on our permit holders and thank our students, staff and visitors for their patience as we work to alleviate our on-campus parking challenges. Rest assured, we are working as quickly as possible to implement both short and long-term solutions that will expand our parking capacity and improve access to on-campus parking.
Overflow lots
Overflow lots have been established at each campus. At the Welland Campus, an overflow lot is available attached to Lot E near Rice Road (Lot E3) as well as the former contractor Lot (Lot D4) attached to Lot D. At the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus, overflow parking is adjacent to the campus on the northeast side (the Niagara Corporate Business Centre), and is easily accessible directly from campus.

Lot improvements
The College is currently reviewing its parking lots and improvements are being planned to help increase the parking capacity on campus. Some improvements are already underway.
At the Welland Campus, Lot E has been expanded and it will also be paved and lines will be painted to ensure the lot is utilized to its maximum capacity.
Lot D will also be expanded and paved. The work on Lot D is scheduled to begin on September 19.
Temporary parking will be established on campus during the paving periods.
Parking permits
As announced previously, the sale of parking permits has been suspended until further notice. Parking permit sales will resume once the parking lot improvements have been completed.
As the College enhances overflow lots to expand the number of spaces available, the status of permit sales will be revisited.
Permit holders are reminded that on-campus parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. As indicated in the terms and conditions for permit holders, purchasing a permit does not guarantee a parking spot.
Permit holders should keep in mind that some lots may fill faster than others and they may not find spots in their preferred lots during peak times. Those parking on campus should give themselves extra time when travelling to campus to allow ample time to find a spot.
Parking attendants
Parking attendants are available to provide assistance at each campus, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. For those who need assistance, they may be reached at:
Welland Campus (289) 213-4500
NOTL Campus (289) 213-4953
Consider alternatives
Students are reminded of the options that exist for travel to our campuses. Carpooling is encouraged, and all students receive a U-Pass that can be used with any public transit provider in Niagara.
Students travelling to the Welland Campus have the option of free parking at the Seaway Mall, 800 Niagara St., and using their U-Pass to hop on a Welland Transit bus directly to campus.
