UPDATE: Please note that due to demand that has exceeded projections, on-campus parking permit sales for both campuses have been suspended until further notice. While Niagara College has established overflow lots at each campus to accommodate increased volume, demand for permits currently exceeds capacity. The status of permit sales will be revisited as the college enhances overflow lots to expand the number of spaces available. Students, staff and visitors are encouraged to consider options to on-campus parking, including carpooling and public transit. As part of registration, all students receive a U-Pass that can be used for all public transit providers in Niagara.
An important reminder that at peak times – especially during the first weeks of term – our campuses experience a high volume of vehicles, which can cause brief delays or shortages of spots in campus lots. Students, visitors and staff are reminded to allow extra time when traveling to campus so that so they may have ample time to find a parking spot.
To deal with increased volume, Niagara College has established overflow lots at each campus. At the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus, overflow parking is adjacent to the campus on the northeast side (the Niagara Corporate Business Centre), and is easily accessible directly from campus. At the Welland Campus, an overflow lot is available attached to Lot E near Rice Road (Lot E3) as well as the former contractor Lot (Lot D4) attached to Lot D. (See maps below)
Parking attendants are available at each campus, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, to provide assistance. For those who need assistance, they may be reached during be reached at:
NOTL Campus (289) 213-4953
Welland Campus (289) 213-4500
Students are also reminded of the options that exist for travel to our campuses. Carpooling is encouraged, and all students receive a U-Pass that can be used with any public transit provider in Niagara.
Parking FAQs:
Can I park at the Outlets of Niagara mall for free?
No. As per a Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake bylaw, Outlets of Niagara parking is for customers only and the bylaw is strictly enforced
What if I can’t find a parking spot?
During some peak times throughout the day, there may be brief shortages. Important things to remember:
- A permit does not guarantee parking in a specific lot, and some lots may fill faster than others. During peak times you may not find a spot in your preferred lot.
- As indicated in the terms and conditions for permit holders, a permit does not guarantee a parking spot. On-campus parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please allow the appropriate amount of time to park.
What is the impact of campus construction projects on campus parking?
To address construction-related parking impacts, Niagara College has secured additional overflow lots.
At the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus, overflow parking is adjacent to the campus on the northeast side (in a designated area of the Niagara Corporate Business Centre), and is easily accessible directly from campus.
At the Welland Campus, permit parking is also available in two additional lots: an overflow lot is available attached to Lot E near Rice Road at the Welland Campus (Lot E3) as well as the former contractor Lot (Lot D4) attached to Lot D.
Like any major construction project, some inconveniences – however temporary – are unavoidable, and we’ve taken steps to minimize the impact. These projects are a significant investment in new and expanded facilities. They will greatly modernize and transform our learning environments and facilities, as well as enhance the overall experience for our students at Niagara College. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
What alternatives are there to on-campus parking?
Other options to consider include carpooling and public transit. Students receive a U-Pass as part of their registration, which can be used with any public transit provider in Niagara (learn more here: http://www.niagaracollege.ca/student-life/parking-and-transportation/.) Students at the Welland Campus can park at the Seaway Mall, 800 Niagara St., and take a Welland Transit bus directly to campus.
