Introduction
This guide was created to make your transition into college easier. As a new student, you may have many questions about how things work at NC and we want to provide you with all the information that you need to navigate the NC system and succeed in your academic journey here.
How to Use this Guide
- It is very important that you read this guide before you start classes, so you are fully prepared.
- Guide content is organized by weeks. This is to help you with tips and resources as you move along the term at those specific times.
- Each academic term is 15 weeks long. We suggest you bookmark this guide and place a note in your calendar to remind you to read and follow the tips for a given week(s), since each week has specific recommendations, resources, and links relevant to that time in the term.
We hope that this guide will accompany you throughout your time at Niagara College, but this is just an extra resource for you to use. Remember: you can always contact your Academic Advisor or your International Student Advisor for any questions you may have.
How can an Academic or International Student Advisor (ISA) help me?
They can provide you with academic guidance and can also connect you to the many college services and resources available to help you settle into college life and the demands of your program. They also work with you to establish your educational goals. We encourage you to reach out to your Academic Advisor or ISA if:
- you have any questions about your program.
- you feel that your program is not the best fit for you.
- you would like to explore having a reduced course load.
- you need extra support to succeed (i.e. peer tutoring, accommodations).
