A message from David Atherton, dean of Academic and Liberal Studies:
Jennifer Roberts joins NC as associate dean, Academic and Liberal Studies.
Please join me in welcoming Jennifer Roberts, to her new role as associate dean, Academic and Liberal Studies, at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Jennifer begins her role with Niagara College on June 19, 2023.
Jennifer holds both a Master of Arts with specialization in Ethics, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in Women’s Studies from McMaster University.
Prior to joining NC, Jennifer was a full-time Liberal Studies professor and coordinator of the General Arts & Science Program at Mohawk College. During her time as a full-time professor, she was the course lead for Introduction to Critical Thinking, Developmental Psychology, Contemporary Ethical Issues, and Inquiry. Jennifer established new transfer credit agreements with many university partners, assisted in creating a General Arts and Science pathway for Indigenous students, and developed a General Arts and Science pathway for CICE students via the Career Pathways Program.
In addition to her coordinator role of the General Arts & Science program at Mohawk College, she also served in the coordinating roles of Mohawk Bridge in Dual Credit programming, and Mohawk @ School, a School-College-Work Initiative. These programs focused on providing pathways for high-school and at-risk students to transition successfully to post-secondary education.
With over 15 years in post-secondary teaching and coordinating, she is a published author with Pearson Canada and Nelson Publishing in the field of Psychology and has acquired extensive experience in academic leadership, school board and community partnerships and curriculum development. She has collaboratively created online curriculum with the Centre for Teaching and Learning; served as a class advisor within the department and provided support and guidance to students in pursuit of their academic goals.
