A message from Message from President Sean Kennedy:
I am so pleased that our college community gathered together for the virtual presentation of our exciting new 2022-2027 Strategic Plan.
Our new strategic plan is about our people – who we are and what connects us; our strong organizational culture; our focus on students; our welcoming, trailblazing and passionate characteristics. It will serve as our guide as we navigate a truly unique time in the postsecondary sector and in society; as we emerge from the pandemic and into an era with increased competition in postsecondary education, rapid technological change, students who are more diverse and globally aware, and a community in economic recovery.
The plan responds to this unique environment with clear, connected areas of focus for the next five years: a wholistic student experience; academic excellence; global reach, alumni and partner engagement, social inclusion and partner engagement, and operational excellence.
Once again, I want to thank the strategic planning team of Marc Nantel, Jennifer Murphy, Dorita Pentesco, Lisa Mendez, Julie Stitt, and Dana Wetherell for their outstanding work in developing this plan. After more than 12 months of engagement and consultation with all areas of the college and our broader community, they have produced a plan that connects each of us and our work. Our new plan reinforces our shared pursuit of a diverse, inclusive and highly engaged college that is socially and environmentally aware. The plan also renews our focus on trailblazing academic programs that are immersive, flexible, accessible, and meet the changing needs and expectations of students and employers alike.
Our next step is to put the new Strategic Plan into action, and we’ll begin that process on April 29 at Day of Reflection. As Day of Reflection approaches, I strongly encourage you to visit the new, dynamic Strategic Plan website, read the complete plan, and watch the inspiring Strategic Plan video.
Day of Reflection will allow us to deepen our understanding of the vision for the College and features a series of interactive panels, each focused on the strategic areas identified in the new plan. Participants will be able to choose which panels they attend and will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues in smaller groups about how their work connects with the strategic vision of the College and how we can each contribute to achieving that vision together. I am also excited to share that we will announce the inaugural recipients of the President’s Award for Innovation in Student Learning and Success.
I look forward to a fruitful discussion on April 29 about how the plan will lead us to the achievement of our vision. Please register for Day of Reflection via the link sent via email . The program will be delivered virtually from 1 to 3 p.m. with an outdoor reception in the courtyard at the Welland Campus immediately following.
Please join us for this beloved NC tradition.
