It is with great pleasure that I invite you to join us at our upcoming virtual Day of Reflection on Thursday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Niagara College’s Day of Reflection is a longstanding tradition that provides an opportunity for us to engage as a college community, collaborate, and reflect on both the past year and also the opportunities that lie ahead. This year’s virtual event will focus on our vision for the future of NC. You will have the opportunity to contribute ideas and perspectives as we write the next chapter in our college’s history.

The day will include important discussions on the vital role colleges will play in the COVID-19 recovery with an emphasis on Niagara College’s longer-term post-pandemic future with outstanding panelists, including Leesa Wheelahan, a professor and the William G. Davis Chair in Community College Leadership at the Ontario Institute of Studies for Education at the University of Toronto; two members of our Board of Governors: Mishka Balsom, who leads the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce, and Shane Malcolm, an NC alum, former NC SAC president and director of Career Success with the Onyx Initiative; Paul Brennan, senior partner and consultant with InnovEd ODT Canada and former vice president at Colleges and Institutes Canada; and our own director of Marketing and Recruitment, Dorita Pentesco.

As you know, we recently completed our Employee Engagement Survey. Thank you to all employees who completed the survey – your input is such an important part of our continuous improvement efforts, and will also help shape the college’s new strategic plan moving forward. Survey results will be shared with the wider college community in the coming months and will outline our areas of strengths as well as opportunities for improvements.

The past year has been challenging, but we have persevered and overcome obstacles #NCTogether. NC’s Day of Reflection is an opportunity for our college community to re-connect and look toward a brighter future. You will receive an email with a link to the virtual event.

I look forward to (virtually) seeing you there.
