Shelby Knox with Newstalk 610 CKTB posted a news brief on March 26 about NC’s plans to create a memorial garden to honour the life of Saundra Patterson, the partner of NC’s former president Dan Patterson who passed away in January 2021.

The coverage mentions how The Saundra Patterson Memorial Garden will be created in the upper courtyard of the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake and that students from NC’s School of Environment and Horticulture will have an opportunity to design the garden. A winning design will be selected by the end of the Spring term with an expected completion by the end of the Fall term. The project will be completely funded by donors who contribute to the Saundra Patterson Memorial Garden and Horticultural Bursary Fund.

President emeritus Dan Patterson is also quoted in the piece: “Saundra was so pleased to see the way the campus has developed into becoming one of the most beautiful learning environments in the country … it’s so extraordinary to think that a memorial garden will be created in her honour. I am so pleased that her legacy and her love for the College will continue on for the enjoyment of students, faculty, staff and visitors to the College.”
