As Niagara College students, faculty and staff, you are eligible to download or use Microsoft, Adobe and other software on your home computer at little or no cost. Read on and learn just how easy it is to have access to all the latest versions including Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 and Microsoft Office for Mac 2016.
Faculty/Staff
For Microsoft software the Home Use Program offers Microsoft Office Professional Plus, Project Professional and Visio Professional for Windows or Mac for $11.00 each. For more information on how to order refer to the InsideNC article posted in September or contact the ITS Helpdesk.
Adobe and other software is available through niagaracollege.onthehub.com/ . Register with your school email address to purchase Adobe Acrobat for $9.75 or an annual Creative Cloud subscription for $9.75. This Adobe educational offering is made available for your school work as a faculty/staff member and is not intended for personal use.
Please note that payment for the above is the personal responsibility of the employee and is not funded by NC. College credit card or expenses cannot be used to cover the purchase of this software. Students
For Microsoft software there are two student offerings available. The first is the Microsoft Student Option through niagaracollege.onthehub.com/ . Register with your school email address to receive Microsoft Office for Windows or Mac and Windows operating system completely free. The second is through your Niagara College Office 365 account portal.microsoftonline.com . Below is a summary of the differences between these two offerings:
- Microsoft Student Option has downgrade rights to earlier versions. The Office 365 offering is equivalent to 2016 and new features are delivered through the cloud.
- Microsoft Student Option provides perpetual rights so you may use it indefinitely. Office 365 can only be used while you are a current Niagara College student.
- Microsoft Student Option is installed via the traditional methods (MSI/EXE). Office 365 is installed as a virtual app, streamed to you. It also requires devices to be connected once every 30 days to validate licencing.
Adobe and other software for students is available as well through niagaracollege.onthehub.com/ . With your school affiliation you may purchase an Adobe Creative Cloud membership at the reduced cost of $27.53/month. Creative Cloud membership includes access to every Adobe Creative Suite 6 desktop application and more e.g. Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, After Effects, Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Muse.
