The news that Niagara College has been named Canada’s top college for research was covered by the Niagara Dailies on Nov. 12.

Gord Howard and Bob Tymczyszyn interviewed NC’s Marc Nantel, vice-president of research, innovation and strategic initiatives, and President Dan Patterson, at the official announcement on Nov. 12 at NC’s Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus. Among them celebrating the achievement were staff and faculty in NC’s Research and Innovation department.

NC was recognized as number one among 50 colleges nationwide. Nantel explains that, since the College embarked on applied research twenty years ago, they’ve experienced steady growth.

The rankings by Research Infosource Inc. were based on each college’s annual funding. Niagara climbed the ranks from seventh and eighth in previous years before hitting the top spot in 2019.

Dr. Patterson explains that Niagara has become a “hub… for small- and medium-sized enterprises that want to grow their businesses, hire more staff  and create new products.” Patterson links NC’s connections with industry with the employability of our students.
