Justin Downes Benchmark Chef is ready to roll out a new summer menu.

I’m pleased to announce that Chef Justin Downes is our new Benchmark Chef.

Chef Justin Downes is a culinary virtuoso, known for his exceptional talent and unwavering passion for the culinary arts. As the new Benchmark Chef at Niagara College, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our growing enterprise here in the Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Studies division.

With an impressive career spanning over two decades, and a long tenure of teaching part-time in the School of Culinary Arts, Chef Downes has been a driving force in the evolution of culinary innovation and education. He is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of culinary talents and has become a beloved figure among students at Niagara College.

Chef Justin Downes’ story is one of a culinary journey that celebrates the essence of the Niagara Region and the beauty of cooking from the heart. His dedication to showcasing the rich tapestry of local flavors, his commitment to sustainability, and his passion for teaching make him a cherished asset to the School of Culinary Arts and a true leader in the field.

Born and raised in the heart of the Niagara region, Chef Downes has a profound connection to the local ingredients and flavors that define the area. Justin takes on his new role at an exciting time, as we prepare to reopen Benchmark for lunch service from Wednesday-Friday, starting November 1.
