The NC Knights are hitting the streets of Welland on October 4, for Knights on Niagara Street, a community fundraising event in support of student-athlete scholarships.

The event marks the first fundraising activity under The Assist: You Pass, They Score, NC’s new athletics fundraising initiative, which launched on September 11 as part of the College’s Together campaign.

Throughout the day, NC’s varsity teams will take turns riding a MEGABike along Niagara Street (Welland), raising funds to support student-athletes. The route will begin in the parking lot at Welland Baseball Stadium, travel south along Niagara Street to the Seaway Mall and return to the stadium. The first ride will begin at 9 a.m., with the final ride scheduled for 4 p.m.

MT Bellies restaurant has partnered with the College and will serve as event headquarters for the day. Community members are encouraged to stop by the official cheering section in front of the restaurant to show their support for the Knights.

The festivities will also include draws and a selection of NC Craft beverages available for tasting and purchase at MT Bellies, showcasing another aspect of the College’s hands-on learning experience.

“Knights on Niagara Street is a great opportunity to bring our NC community together in support of our student-athletes as part of our new fundraising initiative, The Assist: You Pass, They Score,” said Michele O’Keefe. “Through The Assist, we’re creating more opportunities for our Knights to succeed both in competition and in the classroom. Whether you’re riding, making a donation or cheering us on from the sidelines, every bit of support makes a difference. We’re looking forward to seeing our community come out and support our student-athletes.”
