A message from NC Cares 2026 Co-Chairs Nimisha Sumathi and Leah Neamtu:
Mark your calendars for Niagara College’s annual United Way workplace campaign, kicking off Tuesday, October 6.
This year, the NC Cares campaign marks a new chapter for our longstanding partnership with United Way. Earlier this year, United Way joined with United Ways across the region to form United Way Golden Horseshoe – a new regional organization designed to strengthen collaboration and support while maintaining a strong focus on local impact.
For Niagara, that local commitment remains at the heart of United Way’s work. In 2025-2026, United Way’s support in Niagara helped 139,497 people through 44 agencies and 87 programs and projects.
Each year, the NC community comes together to contribute to that impact. Through the continued generosity and support of our employees, NC has now contributed a cumulative total of more than one million dollars through our United Way workplace campaigns, and we look forward to continuing to make a positive difference in our community.
“I’ve seen firsthand the incredible generosity and community spirit of Niagara College, and I’m always inspired by the way NC employees step up to support their neighbours,” said Kevin Jong, Senior Director, Corporate Philanthropy, United Way Golden Horseshoe. “What makes NC’s support of United Way so powerful is that what is raised locally, stays local, helping individuals and families right here in Niagara and strengthening the programs and services our community relies on.”
Launch day will feature online engagement, kicking off with the opening of payroll deductions through the NC payroll portal.
“Being part of NC Cares has been such a meaningful experience because it’s a reminder of just how caring and connected our Niagara College community truly is,” said Sumathi. “Every contribution, whether it’s attending an event, making a donation, volunteering, or simply helping spread the word, has the potential to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people in our community.”
“After being part of NC Cares for the past few years, I’m always amazed by what our college community can accomplish when we come together,” said Neamtu. “We show up for our students every day – NC Cares gives us the opportunity to bring that same spirit of care and generosity to the communities we’re proud to be part of.”
NC has a strong history of giving back and supporting our community. United #NCTogether, we can continue that tradition and make an impact for those who need it most.
