Niagara College’s School of Community Services is inviting the NC community to a special screening of Silver Screamers, a heartwarming and spine-tingling documentary that challenges perceptions of aging and celebrates the spirit of adventure.
The film follows a group of spirited seniors who step far outside their comfort zones to create a horror film, discovering along the way that creativity, connection and a willingness to try something new have no age limit.
The special screening will take place Oct. 15 in the Yerich Auditorium at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the screening beginning at 6:30 p.m.
“We’re excited to bring Silver Screamers to the NC community and spark conversations about how we view aging and the many possibilities that come with it,” said Jackie Frail, Dean, Community Services and Justice and Fitness Studies. “With an aging population in Niagara, it’s important that we challenge assumptions about what it means to grow older and think about how we can create communities where seniors are supported, engaged and empowered. That’s closely connected to the work we do at Niagara College to prepare students to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.”
Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with the filmmaker and a panel of guests.
The event is open to the NC community.
