The NC Knights volleyball teams are inviting the college community to join them in supporting teammate Abbey Gooder while raising funds for cancer research through the upcoming Terry Fox Run.

The teams will participate in the Niagara-on-the-Lake Terry Fox Run on September 20, continuing to rally for Gooder as she undergoes treatment in her ongoing battle with cancer. Gooder is currently recovering from a second surgery after additional cancer was discovered, and coaches, teammates and supporters are once again coming together to show their support.

“Abbey has been, and continues to be, an incredible part of the Knights volleyball family,” said Steve Stone, Head Coach of the Knights women’s and men’s volleyball teams. “Her dedication, passion, and no-excuses attitude have had a lasting impact on our program, and we’re grateful to have her with us.”

“As a team, we know cancer has touched all of us in one way or another,” Stone added. “While we wish there was more we could do, supporting the Terry Fox Run is one small way we can help. We’re proud to take part in honour of Abbey and everyone whose life has been affected by cancer.”

The Terry Fox Run, founded in honour of Canadian hero Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope, has raised millions of dollars for cancer research while bringing communities together in support of those affected by cancer. Through their participation, the Knights hope to honour Gooder’s strength while contributing to her ongoing fight against the disease.

Members of the NC community, family, friends and supporters are invited to participate by joining the Knights’ Terry Fox Run team, making a donation or sharing the fundraising campaign with others.
