Giant FM announced that researchers at NC are studying how robotic animals can help seniors that are living with dementia.
The Fins, Feathers and Fur project performed through the College’s new Healthy Aging and Wellness Innovation Centre (HAWIC) uses robotic seals, birds, cats and dogs to encourage conversation, comfort and emotional connection in long term care homes.
The segment notes that Research Lead Christine Wilkinson says that staff are being trained to you use the devices more effectively as therapeutic tools.
