Building on the success of the introductory course completed by over 100 NC employees, Intro to EDI: Key Concepts is now accessible as an online module via Brightspace, allowing employees to complete it at their own pace.
“Engagement has been strong, and as we continue to expand EDI learning opportunities at NC, we want to ensure they are as accessible as possible so employees can engage with the learning in a way that works best for them,” said Brooke Pasco, Workplace Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist.
The module also supports the goals of NC’s EDI Blueprint to create self-directed and self-paced employee resources. The course highlights key EDI principles like allyship, inclusive terminology, and significant dates, with the COE team leading its transition from a hybrid to an asynchronous format.
Self-directed, self-paced employee resources are among the actions that support the goals of NC’s EDI Blueprint.
Interested employees may register for the module here, which will then add it to the My Courses section of Brightspace.
Those who complete the module will receive a certificate of completion and learn how to:
- Define common terms, including equity, diversity and inclusion
- Distinguish between intent and impact-focused approaches to EDI
- Situate personal social location and experience in relation to power and privilege
- Identify ways to enact equity and inclusion in your daily work practices
The EDI team would like to thank the Centre for Organizational Excellence team for their support in transitioning the module from a hybrid to an asynchronous format.
