The Niagara College Knights women’s curling team is heading to the national stage after winning the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) championship over the Humber College.
The Knights delivered a strong performance throughout the OCAA Curling Championship, finishing with a 6-1 record and earning first place in their division. After defeating Durham College in the semifinal, NC faced Humber once again in a gold medal match.

The victory marks the Knights’ first OCAA women’s curling championship win since the 2017-2018 season.
With the win, the team has earned a spot at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Curling Championship, which will take place from February 17 to 21 at the Callie Curling Club in Regina, Saskatchewan. The eight-team national tournament will feature round-robin play followed by semifinal and medal games, with the Knights aiming to build on the program’s national silver medal finish during the 2022-2023 season.
“I am so proud of our women’s curling team,” said Chris Poukouski, women’s curling Head Coach. “Things were not easy at the start, but we stuck to our philosophy which is have fun and stay positive no matter what. As a result, they came together as a team and are now Provincial Champions. We are looking forward to competing in Regina!”
“We’re very excited for the Knights women’s curling team,” said Michele O’Keefe, Sr. Director, Athletics and Student Engagement. “They work very hard all winter to prepare for the OCAA championships. Winning the gold medal and travelling to Regina for the CCAA championships is the icing on the cake. Go Knights!”
We wish our Knights the best of luck as they head to the CAA National Curling Championship later this month.
