It is with mixed emotions that I share that Senior Vice President, College Operations Pam Skinner is retiring from Niagara College.
Pam’s retirement takes effect on Friday, January 16 and follows more than 10 successful years leading Niagara College’s key operational functions – including human resources, information technology, facilities, campus safety and finance.
Pam came to Niagara College in 2015 after a successful career in the Ontario Public Service, where she rose to the position of Assistant Deputy Minister.
During her time at NC, Pam has left an indelible mark on our college, reflected in everything from improved and expanded facilities to our ongoing work to make our college more equitable, diverse and inclusive. She has overseen master planning and significant capital projects and she led business continuity efforts during the pandemic – one of the most challenging periods of our college’s history. She played an integral part in the development of NC’s EDI Blueprint and has served as co-lead of the efforts to implement the Blueprint’s action items.
With Pam’s retirement, Vince Malvaso, current Senior Director, Finance, will assume the permanent role of Vice President, College Operations, effective Monday, January 19.
Vince’s tenure at NC began in 2003 as Manager in Financial Services. He assumed leadership of the department in 2009 and has led the development of the College’s annual business plan and budget since that time, demonstrating sound and strategic financial stewardship through challenging periods, including the pandemic and the recent shifting landscape within the Canadian postsecondary sector. Vince, who holds a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA/CMA) designation, has also served as Acting Director of Facilities Management Services and has been a trusted advisor to the Executive Team.
Vince will continue to lead the College’s budget process for 2026-2027 as a search commences for a new Senior Director, Financial Services.
