Please join me in celebrating the retirement of three remarkable colleagues in the Academic & Liberal Studies division, whose dedication and passion have shaped our academic community: Steven Scott, Linda Maj, and Linda Ismailos.
As these remarkable educators begin their next chapter, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for their decades of service and the profound impact they have made on Niagara College and the Academic & Liberal Studies division. Please join me in celebrating their achievements and wishing them joy and fulfillment in retirement.
Steven Scott

Steven Scott
Since joining Niagara College in 2006, Steven Scott has been a cornerstone of the Communications department. His work went far beyond teaching – inspiring students to think critically, communicate with confidence, and adapt their skills for real-world success. Steven created learning environments where students felt respected and supported, helping them develop strong writing, speaking, and analytical abilities that became essential tools for their careers.
His calm leadership and collaborative approach made him a trusted mentor to both students and colleagues. Steven’s influence extended into degree programming, where he helped shape advanced communications courses that prepared graduates for global business environments. His legacy is one of empowerment, excellence, and unwavering commitment to student success.
Linda Maj

Linda Maj
Linda Maj began her Niagara College career in 1992 and has been a pillar of the Communications faculty for more than 30 years. She taught everything from foundational college communications to creative writing, always bringing creativity and professionalism to the classroom. Her deep love for the creative arts led her to align closely with the School of Media, where she inspired students to think outside the box to reach their full potential.
Her contributions extended beyond teaching – Linda played a key role in curriculum review and development, ensuring programs met evolving student needs. Known for her warmth and innovative approach, Linda enriched thousands of academic journeys and strengthened the department for decades.
Linda Ismailos

Linda Ismailos
Linda Ismailos joined Niagara College in 2013 and quickly became a champion for inclusive education. Beginning with psychology courses and later as a full-time professor in the CICE program, Linda brought an innovative, hands-on approach to teaching that empowered students with exceptionalities to thrive both academically and personally. Her emphasis on experiential learning – through creative, real-world activities – helped students build confidence and independence.
Beyond the classroom, Linda has been a strong advocate for developing self-efficacy and supporting smooth transitions for students with exceptionalities into post-secondary education. Her professional passions include diversity and inclusion, experiential learning, and mental health, all of which have shaped her teaching and research.
