The London Free Press featured NC’s Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program and Project Brew in its Next Gen section, spotlighting former radio reporter and student Ken Mann, who enrolled in the program after more than 25 years in broadcast journalism.
Mann served as class lead for the graduating cohort’s Project Brew on December 5, where students showcase beers they brewed as part of their capstone project. Mann’s beer is spotlighted. The 4.5% alcohol porter called Around the Campfire, was among a variety of styles poured, including a loganberry Berliner, Riesling brut IPA, German rye beer, and bubblegum wheat beer.
Reflecting on his career change, Mann said: “I remember coming to campus to cover the opening of the teaching brewery, and the program interested me … Every beer you make is a little different depending on which malt you use and which hops you use, you get different colours and flavours and tastes, and I just find that fascinating.”
