I am extremely pleased to announce that Dr. Fay Lim-Lambie, MSW, RSW, PhD, an accomplished and experienced leader in postsecondary education and healthcare, will join Niagara College on December 15 as our next Vice President, Academic.
Fay comes to Niagara College from the International Language Academy of Canada (ILAC) Education Group where she served as Senior Vice President, Academic, providing academic oversight and strategic leadership of the delivery of Ministry-approved programs through Georgian and Fanshawe colleges, and Ministry-inspected International High Schools in British Columbia and Ontario. At ILAC, she led a diverse, dual-provincial team driving academic excellence, faculty development and learner success.
Prior to ILAC, Fay served as Dean of Health Sciences, Community Services and Early Childhood Centres at George Brown College and Dean of Georgian College’s School of Health Sciences and Health and Wellness. Her move to postsecondary education followed senior leadership positions in the healthcare sector at Baycrest Health Sciences and St. Michael’s Unity Health in Toronto. Throughout her academic career, Fay has grown enrolments, launched workforce aligned diploma, degrees, postgraduate, and micro certification programs while raising student retention, graduation rates and building a strong partnership network.
As a Registered Social Worker, Fay held an appointment with Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General where she provided clinical expertise, consultation and mediation with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer. She has extensive governance experience as the Past Chair of the Board of Mackenzie Health Hospital Board, ex-officio member of the Mackenzie Health Foundation Board, and past Treasurer of the Ontario Association of Social Workers and Chair of an independent high school board.
As Vice President, Academic, Fay becomes the College’s chief academic leader, with responsibility for the development, quality and delivery of all NC programs as well as the development and management of strategic academic partnerships. She joins the college at a critical time; her collaborative, forward-thinking leadership style and strong commitment to advancing equity and access in education will serve NC well as we look to grow enrolments and introduce new academic programs against a backdrop of significant shifts in the postsecondary sector.
Fay holds a Bachelor of Social Work from York University, a Bachelor of Arts in English Language, Literature and Sociology and a Master of Social Work from McMaster University and she recently completed her PhD in Higher Education, at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, Leadership, Higher and Adult Education at the University of Toronto.
Fay remains active in the healthcare sector as a thought leader on health professions education, and regulatory practice.
Fay and her husband, Anthony and their two children, share a love of sports, food, culture and travel, while embracing every opportunity to create lasting family memories.
Fay was selected following a comprehensive recruitment process that drew candidates from across Canada. She succeeds Fiona Allan, who will retire from Niagara College on December 31 after a remarkable 31-year career.
Please join me in extending a warm Niagara College welcome to Dr. Fay Lim-Lambie.
