A message from NC Cares 2025 Co-Chairs Leah Neamtu and Nimisha Sumathi:

The NC Cares in a United Way Workplace Campaign officially launches today!

Each year, our Niagara College community comes together to support United Way Niagara and the vital programs it provides across our region. This year’s campaign continues that proud tradition, reflecting the heart of who we are at NC, a community that truly cares for one another.

With a goal of raising $50,000, this year’s campaign will help support essential programs that provide food security, mental health supports, safe housing, and more for those in need. Whether through donating, volunteering, or spreading the word, every act of support helps make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families across Niagara.

How to give:
Starting today, there are two easy ways to donate online:

  1. Payroll deduction via NC’s payroll portal (options for one-time or recurring donations)
  2. Credit card via United Way’s payment portal (select “My Gift is Part of a Workplace Campaign”)

Throughout the campaign, there will also be several on-campus fundraising initiatives planned for the NC community, including:

  • Athletic Gate Donations: NC Athletics will donate all $5 gate fees from the following home games to the United Way Workplace Campaign.
    • Basketball: Saturday, November 15 (Women: 12 p.m., Men: 2 p.m.)
    • Volleyball: Saturday, November 15 (Women: 6 p.m., Men: 8 p.m.) and Wednesday, November 26 (Women: 6 p.m., Men: 8 p.m.)
  • Teaching Hair Salon Cut-a-Thon: On December 4, NC Hairstyling students will offer haircuts in the Teaching Salon for a $10 cash donation.
  • Poinsettia Sales: The Teaching Greenhouse will offer student-grown poinsettias for $9.99 each at the end of November, with $1 from every purchase donated to the campaign.

Stay tuned to InsideNC for more details on the NC Cares on-campus fundraisers.

This year’s workplace campaign will run until December 16, and we look forward to celebrating the impact of our NC community together.
